Buff Fabric
Buff Curtain and Upholstery Fabric
Buff is a colour very similar to Beige or Ecru. The first recorded use of the term "buff" as a colour was in the London Gazette in 1686, describing a uniform to be "...a Red Coat with a Buff-colour'd lining". That referred to the colour of un-dyed buffalo leather, which soldiers at that time wore as some protection. An eye-witness to the death of Sir Edmund Verney in the Battle of Edgehill in 1642 noted that "he would neither put on armor or buff coat the day of the battle".
