Terence Conran Fabrics and Textiles

There can be few designers who have had a greated impact on British style and homes than Sir Terence Conran. Conran's central belief is that ‘a good design should be available to the whole community, not just to a few' - a view which he formed during his time at the Central School of Art and Design in London where he absorbed Bauhaus and Arts & Crafts design philosophies. Through his friendship with the sculptor Eduardo Paolozzi he was a loose member of the so-called 'Independent Group', the 1950s artistic avant garde designers who brough Pop Art to Britain and worked on the Festival of Britain

In the 1950s, shortly after he had graduated from Central Saint Martins, Conran designed a number of important and very successful textiles for David Whitehead and Sons. Some of these designs sold over 1 million yards of cloth. Loome are delighted to offer these designs reprinted onto high quality duck and satin cottons. This small set of his best designs have stood the test of time and still look modern, vibrant and artistically avant garde.
