Fabric for Roman Blinds

Romain blinds must be made from fabric which is relatively supple and which will fold easily as the blind is pulled up.When choosing fabric for roman blinds, lightweight or thin fabrics can be used, but these will require a cotton backing if the blind is to exclude light and ensure privacy, especially at night. Heavy fabrics which are really designed for upholstery are also not ideal as fabric for roman blinds as they do not fold and hang so well. The fabrics listed on this page are medium weight and ideal for make up into roman blinds.

Because roman blinds are made from one piece of material, it is easier to use patterned fabrics for roman blinds - there is no tricky pattern matching to do.
