Christopher Dresser Peacock Plumes Print

A famous Christopher Dresser design. Created in 1876 for William Fry of Dublin, originally produced as a woven silk, then in 1900 as a cotton print by the Rossendale Printing Company, later by Liberty and Co. Printed as a high quality cotton linen suitable for upholstery, curtains, or general furnishings.

To our surprise, earlier in 2026 we were contacted by the legal department of Liberty of London. Their unsigned email pointed out to us that they own a trademark for the name "Hera" and the particular visual arrangement of feathers in the Christopher Dresser design. They wished to know who was producing the fabric in contravention of their trademark. Therefore, sadly, even though Christopher Dresser died in 1904 (and therefore it could be strongly argued that this design is part of the history of textile design), and even though this design did not originally belong to Liberty of London, and even though we have always acknowleged that this design was sold by Liberty, and even though we have never claimed or insinuated that this design is our own design, we agreed to withdraw the product from sale. A small family business cannot afford to defend a legal action against a huge international company. Sadly, Goliath beat David. However, for those who love the plumes design, we will shortly be bringing forwards a revised pattern, fully in keeping with the Christopher Dresser design heritage, which will not upset the legal sensitivities of such a large company.
