Paul Elie Ranson (French, 1864–1909) was a painter belonging to the group of late 19th century artists known as Les Nabis who developed an artistic style drawing on Symbolism, Art Nouveau, and Japanese prints. In his paintings, Ranson favoured themes that exemplified the interaction between humans and nature, and utilized the stylizing effect of flat, bold colors and simplified drawing—an approach shared amongst the Nabis. This fabric is an accurate print reproduction of his 1898 textile design, Water Lilies, examples of which are to be found at the Budapest Museum of Applied Arts. Printed on Linen/Cotton blend fabric suitable for curtains, blinds and upholstery.
