Arts and Crafts Walter Crane, Swallows and Almond Blossom Tapestry Weave (limited sale price stock)
Product Code: LFX10738
From an 1878 wallpaper design by Walter Crane, now reproduced as a heavy tapestry style weave suitable for upholstery and heavy curtains. Walter Crane (1845–1915) was the first President of the Arts and Crafts Exhibition Society and one of the leading exponents of the Aesthetic Movement. Crane’s wallpaper designs show the influence of Japanese art on British culture. This design was exhibited at the 1878 International Exhibition held in Paris, where it was awarded a gold medal. The original drawing is now housed at the V&A museum.
