£44.00 per metre

In April 1834, Owen Jones traveled to the Alhambra in Spain with his friend, the architect Jules Goury. During their stay, Goury fell victim to the cholera epidemic that swept through Granada, claiming the lives of some 10,000 people. After accompanying his friend’s remains back to France, Jones resolved to carry on their shared ambition: to create a comprehensive, full-colour architectural record of the palaces. At great personal expense, he later brought this vision to fruition in his two-volume work Plans, Elevations, Sections and Details of the Alhambra, which contained 68 chromolithographic plates in addition to its frontispieces and finispieces, including this fabulous design.
