Jugendstil Fabrics and Textiles

Jugendstil ("Youth Style"), named from the art journal Jugend founded by the German artist George Hirth, was a Germanic artistic movement and counterpart of Art Nouveau from about 1895 until about 1910. The movement was a reaction against the neo-classicism and historicism of the official art and architecture academies. Although less well known in the UK, Jugendstil produced some of the most enduring designs of the period.
