About Loome Fabrics
Who We Are
Loome Fabrics is a family-run business led by myself, David Wilkinson, together with my colleagues Jane Woodvine and Kate Shakesby. Jane looks after all sample requests, while Kate manages orders and much of the day-to-day administration. We keep our team small so that you always deal with someone who truly knows our fabrics.
We’ve worked together for over 20 years, and what unites us is a shared love of textiles. Every day, we aim to bring you the finest period and traditional fabrics available.
Our Story
We founded Loome Fabrics in 2012 with a vision of creating a specialist fabric house, focused on historically important and interesting designs, along with 'traditional' fabrics and styles, while also keeping a carefully chosen selection of timeless plains and contemporary patterns.
What We Do
Not all fabrics are the same — and neither are all fabric companies. At Loome, we don’t follow fashion or cut corners for the sake of price. Instead, we offer fabrics with period authenticity, and good traditional styles.
-
Design Eras: We specialise in fabrics from all the major design movements and historical designers.
-
Authentic Reproductions and Bespoke Runs: We can re-imagine and re-create almost any historical fabric for you, whether as a bespoke commission or a short run. Most of our designs can be re-coloured or re-scaled to suit your project.
-
Natural Yarns & UK Production: Where possible, we use natural fibres and manufacture our fabrics in the UK. All of our cotton-linen prints and printed velvets, for example, are made in London.
-
Durability & Practicality: While we prefer natural yarns, some period designs are best produced on synthetic velvets, which are more hard-wearing and sustainable in the long term.
Our Philosophy
We believe that every home deserves beauty and inspiration.
“Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.”
— William Morris, 1880The act of dreaming is important in itself.
I wish you an endless flood of dreams
And the intense desire to make some of them come true.
I wish you love for what should be loved
And forgetting what should be forgotten.
I wish you passions.
I wish you birdsong on awakening
and the laughter of children.
I wish you resistance to being swallowed up to indifference,
To the negative virtues of our age.
Above all, I wish you to be youselfJacques Brel
