Choosing the Right Curtain Heading & Lining

Heading Styles

  • Pencil Pleat (3" or 6"): A versatile, classic header ideal for traditional and period settings. Fully adjustable tape (usually 3 inch).

  • Pinch Pleat (Double or Triple): Elegant, structured hand-sewn pleats that create neat, permanent tailored folds.

  • Wave Heading: Creates smooth, continuous, modern S-shaped waves; requires a dedicated wave track system. Best for contemporary designs, minimalist decor, or mid-century look.

  • Eyelets: metal eyelets for poles up to 35mm diameter, ideal for clean drape lines.

Linings & Interlinings

  • Standard Cotton Satin Lining: Protects the face fabric from sunlight damage while improving drape and body.

  • Thermal Blackout Lining: Eliminates light penetration - ideal for bedrooms, nurseries, and media rooms.

  • Bump Interlining (Heavyweight): Inserted between face fabric and lining to add luxurious weight, thermal insulation, and draught-proofing for period sash windows.

Lead Times & Turnaround

  • Standard Turnaround: Made-to-measure curtains and blinds normally take 4 weeks from the date of fabric selection and order confirmation.

  • Peak Season (Autumn & Christmas): During the pre-Christmas rush (October through December), production lead times extend to 6–8 weeks. We recommend placing orders early to guarantee pre-Christmas delivery.

Frequently Asked Questions (Made to Measure Curtains)

Do I measure the window frame or the curtain track/pole?

Always measure the curtain track or pole length, not the window frame itself. If you do not have a track or pole installed yet, measure the window opening width and add 15cm to 30cm on each side for the curtain "stack-back."

How do I measure drop length for a curtain pole vs. a curtain track?

  • Curtain Poles with rings: Measure from the eye at the bottom of the pole ring down to where you want the curtain to finish.
  • Curtain Poles for Eyelet curtains: Measure from the top edge of the pole down to the desired bottom hem line.
  • Curtain Tracks: Measure from the very top of the track down to your desired bottom hem line to hide the track.

Are your custom curtains suitable for commercial or trade projects?
